I am looking at purchasing a 2009 ninja 250 from a mate.
The rego expired at the start of the year.
What is the procedure to get this motorcycle registered and in my name if I were to buy it?
Firestor…:First up, get the rego papers signed by the seller and get a proper receipt. DON’T put a date on the rego papers. Wait until you are ready to proceed and then put the date on them. The reason is that officially you are supposed to transfer regos within 2 weeks otherwise they hit you up for $99 extra. May not apply to a new rego but just to be sure. You may encounter some old cow behind the counter who just loves to be a bit ch.Then you need a blue slip. Not all inspection places do them so you might have to search a bit. If the bike is standard, then you will have no problems at all. Then off to the rego office where you fill out the correct form (pretty uncomplicated), hand over your money for rego and extra for the new plate and away you go.It’s pretty easy but that can depend on the staff at whichever RMS office you attend. I keep hearing horror stories but I have never had any trouble at all. The staff at the Wagga office have always been very helpful. It also helps if you take in the old plate. They like getting them back. What may cause trouble is if the bike has been modified a fair bit. The blue slip is a more severe form of a pink slip. And they will be pretty strict. And to the dickwad that gives me a thumbs down, how would you do it? Well, you gutless worm? How about an answer? Whoever you are, you are just a cowardly piece of trash. Give that a thumbs down you moron
